Privacy Policy
Effective July 28, 2026
The short version
We collect the minimum we need to run CinchQR: your email address to sign you in, the QR codes you create, and a count of scans. We don’t track the people who scan your codes, we don’t use advertising trackers, and we never sell your data. Ever.
What we collect from you
- Your email address. We use it to sign you in with login links (or through Google, if you choose that) and to reach you about your account. There are no passwords. If you sign in with Google, Google shares only your email address with us.
- The QR codes you create. That means the links you point them at, the PDF files you upload for us to host, and the Wi-Fi details you enter. Wi-Fi passwords are stored so we can render your code; treat any code you share as sharing that password.
- Scan counts. When someone scans one of your codes, we record that a scan happened and when. That’s it.
- Payment details, once you subscribe after your free trial. These are handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your card number.
What we collect from people who scan your codes
Almost nothing, and this is deliberate. When someone scans a CinchQR code, their phone briefly visits our server so we can send them to the right place and add one to the scan count. We do not build profiles of scanners, we do not store their identity or precise location, and we do not use their visit for advertising.
Cookies
We use two cookies, both essential:
- A sign-in cookie, so you stay logged in.
- A creation cookie, so a code you make before creating an account can be attached to your account when you sign up.
There are no advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
Who we share data with
Only the service providers we need to operate: our hosting provider, our payment processor, and the provider that delivers your sign-in codes by email. Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We never sell your data, and we don’t share it for advertising.
How long we keep things
Your codes, their destinations, and their scan counts are kept while your account exists, even if your subscription lapses, so subscribing again revives everything. If you delete a code, its destination and scan history are deleted with it. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information and your codes stop working.
Your choices
- You can see and change everything your codes point at from your dashboard.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it, by emailing privacy@cinchqr.com.
Children
CinchQR is designed to be simple enough for anyone to use, but accounts are for people 13 and older. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we’ll tell you by email before they take effect. The current version always lives at this page.
